Opening a Chase Ink Credit Card

Updated: Apr 30

If you have already followed the steps in Getting Started with Credit Card Points and you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) or Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR), it may be time to look into a Chase Ink.

BEST CHOICE: The Chase Ink Business Preferred (annual fee $95) offers a sign up bonus (SUB) of 100,000 points if you spend $8000 in the first 3 months. In order to meet the minimum spend, I suggest the following:

  1. Add an authorized user (AU) to the card for no fee

  2. Use the card for ALL spend, including utility bills

  3. NEVER use cash or a debit card

  4. ALWAYS pay your credit card in full, NEVER pay interest

  5. Join Facebook Groups like 10xTravel Insiders and Travel on Point(s) for additional options/ideas

NEXT BEST CHOICE: If you prefer a card with no annual fee, you could choose a Chase Ink Business Unlimited or Chase Ink Business Cash. Both offer 75,000 points if you spend $6000 in the first 3 months.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR A BUSINESS CARD?

You do not have to have a registered business like an LLC or a corporation to apply. If you sell any goods or services (including on Marketplace, eBay, Craigslist, Amazon), you qualify as a sole proprietor and can open a business credit card.

Other jobs that qualify include, but are not limited to: freelancers, online sellers, bloggers, property managers, rental property owners, web developers/designers, website content writers, caterers, tradespeople (builders, plumbers, electricians, woodworkers, etc.), consultants, accountants, babysitters, personal trainers, odd-job workers, landscapers, or gig economy workers (ride-hailing service drivers, food-delivery drivers).

On the credit card application, you will be asked the following:

Business cards do not count toward the Chase 5/24 rule.
